Behind my Dream Horse Riding
is a lifelong passion.
Nuno Duarte’s passion for horses began long before he ever rode one.
Growing up in a humble family, he dreamed of horses as a child playing with toy horses and imagining the freedom of running like one. Although surrounded by animals, he never had a horse of his own. His closest experience was with his grandfather Fernando’s donkey, which he rode only a few times. At fairs, he would often wander off, completely captivated by the sight of horses.
Despite being encouraged to follow other paths, horses ultimately chose him.
After settling in Carrapateira, Nuno briefly considered surfing, but quickly realized his heart belonged to the land, not the sea. It was then that horses returned to his life. With the guidance of someone he deeply admired, Nídia Barata, he learned how to ride, care for, and understand horses.
That was the beginning of his dream becoming reality.
With determination and the support of his wife, Nuno bought Iris, his first foal. Alongside Estrela, a mare he raised, he built not only a bond but a life. The journey wasn’t easy it required patience, resilience, and trust but it shaped a deep connection between man and horse.
He began offering rides one person at a time, guiding guests through the stunning landscapes of Carrapateira often walking beside them while they rode.
Over time, My Dream Horse Riding grew. More horses joined, more people became part of the journey, and a simple dream turned into a unique experience shared with others.
Even today, when Nuno rides whether along the beach or through the countryside he feels a powerful connection, as if he and the horse are one.
He is happiest among horses.
And even happier sharing that feeling of freedom with others.

Do I need experience to go horse riding?
No experience is required. Our horses are calm, well-trained, and suitable for beginners, and our guides will assist you throughout the ride.
What should I wear for the ride?
We recommend comfortable clothing and closed shoes (such as trainers or boots). In summer, bring sunscreen and a hat; in cooler months, a light jacket is advised.
Is horse riding safe?
Yes, safety is our priority. All rides are guided by experienced professionals, and we carefully match each rider with the right horse.
Are the rides suitable for children?
Yes, our rides are suitable for children and families. Please contact us in advance so we can recommend the best option.
How long are the horse riding tours?
We offer different options:

Can I book a private ride?
Yes, private and customized rides are available on request for couples, families, or small groups.
What happens in case of bad weather?
In case of bad weather conditions, we offer the possibility to reschedule your ride to another date.
